Welcome Back Babes.
Quick reminder, this is a safe space and let’s leave shame and judgment out the window.
Trusting God When You can't See the Next Step
Ever feel like you are walking into an unknown area with a blindfold and noise-cancelling headphones on, bro? Like you have no knowledge of the next step to take? Unaware of what you should look for or listen to?
Fabulous, because SAME!
I often feel this way during my faith journey. It’s like being on a ride into the unknown, or another name we call it is trusting God in the process, babes.
Biblical Perspective: The Cost of Looking Back
Letting go and not looking back is presented within the story of Lot's wife (Genesis 19). Lot and his family were provided the grace to be informed before there was destruction. The family was informed how important it was not to look back. However, when leaving, Lot's wife looked back and paid a price. Read the whole chapter for clarity! GO SPEND TIME WITH YOUR BIBLE BABES
The Struggle With Control
Trusting God, or in other words….. letting God is the process of letting God lead the path of testing your faith in all areas! It's like jumping into a pit of light and falling for hours.
The light is great, but falling for hours is a hard concept to accept. This is ONE of the many challenges that I have when following Jesus.
I always want to be in control. I have constant thoughts such as “how should I plan this,” “when is the right time to say this,” and “when should I send this.” Let's not forget the constant actions, such as always creating a master plan for becoming wealthy or planning out conversations.
I always need to know what, when, how, why, and where, or I spiral. I am a bit controlling, sis, yeah, I am aware lol.
This adventure is the total opposite, though. I am constantly unaware of who I will be speaking to, what I will be speaking about, where I am, WHO I AM, what the next plan is, and why something did/didn’t happen. Ohhh boy, and I really hate when I don’t get my way and don’t understand the WHY!
But is that necessary? Do we deserve the why? Will the why bring clarity or confusion?
“Just Trust God” Isn't as Simple as It Sounds
When anything happens, my mother or grandmother always says, “trust God” or “it’s part of God’s plan.”
Low-key, when someone states “trust God” it definitely sounds like a cliché-not only that, but also they make it sound like a walk in the park. When really it takes hard work, mistakes, and more than just wishful thinking.
It definitely is sus, and is one thing that caused a lot of mood swings in the beginning of my journey. Who am I kidding, lol, it still causes plenty of mood swings.
I am chatting with God all the time, trying to understand and asking why in the world certain things take place.
Faith Over Everything: Managing Emotions Through God
The secret life hack is being able to manage your emotions, understanding faith, and utilizing faith over everything-and YES, I mean everything!
Just in case you need a reminder babes, everything includes drama, fear, anger, sadness, irritation, feeling loss, and any challenging events that make you want a glass of wine/shot of your favorite tequila or let's be honest, take a dip in your past life.
This is where emotional management comes in.
Baby, first thing to do when thinking of your past life, talk to God. I start by identifying all the things you are grateful for. Not just the big ones-think little too! I consider this a form of a gratitude prayer.
For example, thank you Jesus, for this cup of coffee, thank you Jesus, for that green light earlier when I was running late, and thank you Jesus, for my bed and water running. This allows my mind to focus on the positives rather than whatever is currently tempting me to fall into sin or dysregulating my emotions.
Next, I find a healthy and appropriate task to complete while inviting the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Come on, sis, invite Him into your everyday challenges. HE LOVES BEING INCLUDED IN YOUR LIFE! That's the key to our strong relationship, I promise.
Just to throw some other things out there that I do, I clean, listen to music, walk, and my favorite one…. Dance it out!
Finally, discuss the feelings and the situation with God!!!! This allows you to relax and de-escalate. While talking with God, make sure to include every detail and feeling. DO NOT avoid the big feelings.
Pookie!!! You have now avoided sticking your little busted pinky toe into the water of your past life and swimming in a bed of your emotions and temptations.
Letting God do what He does in peace without leaning into your temptations or a puddle of escalation will improve your faith and will also show your faith is present within your relationship with Jesus.
Let's not forget, you have now put those temptations and the devil in a headlock. Believe me, I know that is easier said than done because baby, I have to click on my activate faith button about a thousand times before it goes into full effect. But baby, the mustard seed is THIIIIICK!
Letting go, letting God, and not looking back doesn’t just improve you spiritually, but mentally and emotionally-which always leads to physical. It's like finding a legal way to make $100,000 by tomorrow, spiritually!! Let's be real, if we could, we would!
So if you're standing in the unknown right now, unsure of the next step, take a break. You're NOT alone! The challenge is to stop digging for all of the answers. The blindfold doesn’t mean you’re lost — it means you’re being led. Let go, let God, and don’t look back. Faith over everything, always.
